You have to turn in a 500-word essay. The thought of counting each and every word makes your eyes bug out! Is there a better way to get a word count?
| Open Microsoft Word and begin a
new document. Type a paragraph. |

| Click on Tools found in the Menu Bar. |
|
| Move your mouse down to Word Count and click there. |
|
| Notice the other information given in the chart. |
|
| If you want to know how many words are in a particular part
of your document highlight that area, then use the Word Count tool. Try it with one
sentence in your paragraph. |
With our newer version of Microsoft Word, a Word Count Toolbar is also available. Give it a try using these steps:
