E-business means doing business online.

People buy and sell things on the Internet every day, 24 hours a day.
Can you think of situations where e-business might be especially helpful?
How about for people who are unable to drive, have a handicap, or who don't live where the items are offered?

How do people pay for items they order online?
One way is by credit card.  The buyer types in his credit card number when he orders.
Another way is called C.O.D.  That stands for "collect on delivery".  If you agree to pay C.O.D. you pay the delivery person when your order is delivered.

Auction sites are another kind of e-business.

Items up for auction generally don't have a set price
You have to bid on them.  The auction is over at a certain time, and the item goes to the highest bidder.

Here are some business terms you should know:

  • E-business (or e-commerce)

  • Online

  • Auction

  • Bid

  • C.O.D.

  • Limited quantity

  • Out of stock

  • Shipping & handling
