    What is the time difference?
  • Has the sun risen yet? What time is sunrise in both areas?
  • What temperature is it in both areas?
  • Is that an average temperature?
  • Locate Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on an online map.
  • Save an outline map of Pennsylvania and use Paint to mark the location. Also locate the capital.
  • How far would you need to travel to see Phil live? Use an online map for directions and time estimation.
  • What states are between?
  • Save an online map of the U.S., and use Paint to trace your course. (additional maps here)
  • How long would the journey take if you drove?
  • Use Excel to calculate travel expenses, including fuel. Can you find current gasoline prices on the Triple A web site? Track fluctuating fuel prices and use Excel to create charts.

with a shadow effect.
There are several ways to do it.

What is a shadow? Can you define it? Use an online dictionary.
Use the digital camera to take pictures of shadows.
Compare them taken at different times of the day. Try to guess what object is making the shadow.
What is "job shadowing"?

Where will we see you in a few years?

What can you do now to prepare for your career?

(The career characters above are original creations by Mrs. Cannon, drawn after researching typical dress of various vocations. Students volunteer to have their photos used as the faces. 
The near life-size characters hopefully allow students the chance to "see" themselves in a positive role.
Others not shown include a minister, grocer, banker, teacher, mom, and others.
Teachers are welcome to use them as inspiration to make your own, but please do not reproduce for distribution.
