How to add a favicon to your site:
A favicon is a tiny icon that appears in the Address Bar at the beginning of your URL and also appears in the Favorites Menu when anyone bookmarks your site. Here's how to add one to your site:
The graphic file MUST be in standard Windows icon file format, .ico for this to work.
Mrs. Cannon uses IrfanView, a free program from http://www.irfanview.com   to create and save .ico files.
Set the size of your graphic to 32x32. Save the .ico file and import it into the root directory of your web site.
That's all there is to it. It will automatically be picked up by Internet Explorer 5 and above and your graphic will appear in the Favorites Menu when someone bookmarks it. It also appears in the Address Bar on the browser and on the desktop when someone creates a shortcut to the site.
Easy-Breezy!
     Additional tip: adding this code to the head section of your HTML will force the icon to appear if needed. Copy and paste the line below into the head section. EDIT the highlighted section to reflect the location of your site.
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.your site's URL/favicon.ico">
